1681 Bishops of Paris Assembly Louis XIV Catholic Church Innocent XI Royal ARMS
A rare 18th-century printing of the minutes taken during the Archbishopric of Paris in 1681. This assembly was needed as a response to the growing tensions between the Catholic Church with Pope Innocent XI and the French monarchy under Louis XIV. In fact, much of what occurred during these assemblies would influence the Declaration of the Four Articles which appeared the following year.
This book contains letters written to King Louis XIV from the archbishops and clergy of France who were gathered at Saint Germain en Laye.
However, the draw of this particular example is the armorial supralibros on the front and back boards belonging to Charles Le Goux de La Berchère, archbishop of Narbonne.

He served successively as Bishop of Lavaur (1677–1685), Archbishop of Aix (1685–1687), Archbishop of Albi (1687–1703) and Archbishop of Narbonne (1703–1719). - Handwritten – Mgr de Beauvau, Archevêque de Narbonne
- René-François de Beauvau du Rivau (1664-1739) was a French prelate, and Archbishop of Narbonne 1726–1738. He was entrusted by Louis XIV with several ecclesiastical appointments, such as the bishoprics of Bayonne (1700) and Tournai (1707), the latter of which he held during the siege by Prince Eugene in 1709; and the archbishoprics of Toulouse (1713) and Narbonne.
