Sancti Bernardi … pulcherrima & exemplaris vitae medulla quinquaginta tribus iconibus illustrata was printed in 1653 as a thorough survey of the life, ministry, and miracles of Saint Bernard de Clairvaux. Though written in Latin, this Dutch-printed devotional history illustrates the life of Bernard through 53 engraved scenes depicting his solitude, prayer life, and miracle working. This first edition is bound in fine marbled boards with a gilt leather spine.
