Giovanni Botero’s Theatrum principum orbis vniversi, printed in 1596 in Cologne, is a rare 16th-century survey of world dynasties through a Christian lens. This book, which was a companion to the more popular Univversal Relations, focuses on European monarchs from France, England, Poland, Spain, and Muscovy, as well as Asian rulers such as the Greah Khan, Moguls, Persian kings, Chinese dynasties, and Siam. It also covers African kings such as King of Monomotapa and the Ottoman sultans.
