A Persian manuscript on dream interpretation, written around 1800 in Nastaʿliq with illuminated headings, covering traditional symbolic categories and reflections on true and false dreams.
Taʿbīr al-Ruʾyā (تعـبیر الرؤیا)” or Interpretation of Dreams is a rare, traditional dream interpretation manual written around the turn of the 18th-century. This genre is a famous, old Islamic text widely copied and edited throughout Persia and India. Using Nasta’liq script, this book offers dream interpretations concerning children, the dead, illness, war, light and darkness, even weather. It expounds on these events by stating that true dreams are granted by God, and false or confusing dreams are demonic whispers.
