Image Gallery Description & Details

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, was known for being a model of 19th-century American masculinity. Whether through his exploits in the Rough Riders or his “Big Stick” policy on foreign relations, Roosevelt’s energy and bravado was well-admired by the American populace. He was also a vocal explorer, hunter, and naturalist. This first edition of one of his most notable written works, “Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter,” published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1905, details Roosevelt’s analysis of hunting techniques and strategies drawn from his experience as a hunter in the American West.
