Image Gallery Description & Details

Thomas Godwyn was a 17th-century English historian who’s Antiquities of Rome was one of the best works of Roman history. First published in 1614, Romae antiquae notitia describes the divisions of the Roman people, the roles of Roman priests, the Roman military, soldiers, and legions, the treatment of Roman captives, and much more!

This 1680 English printing of the works of Godwyn includes not only his Antiquities of Rome, but also his books Moses and Aaron, Civil and Ecclesiastical Rites and Archaeologiae Atticae – works on history of Hebrew and Greek religion, traditions, rites, and customs.
