Works of Aristotle – 1802 | Greek Philosophy, Problemata Physica

Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist who is regularly considered the ‘Father of Western Philosophy.’ His extensive writings cover a variety of topics from physics and zoology to metaphysics and psychology; and while many of his original thoughts have since been outdated or developed, he laid the foundation for a number of schools of thought, many of which were not expounded upon until the Enlightenment in the 18th-century.

This rare English version of the “works of Aristotle” was published in New England in 1806. In addition to notable philosophical works, this edition includes the pseudo-Aristotle treatise of ‘Problemata physica’. The authorship of rest of the works in this book are also called into question. For instance – at the end of the last section, references are made to the number of dying children in London from smog – something Aristotle would… probably not have known about.

Very Good. Binding secure with visible edge wear, some rubbing to leather. Pages show mild to moderate age toning and scattered foxing consistent with age. Hinges intact, text block clean and complete.
