John Gardner Wilkinson was one of the most important English Egyptologists of the 19th-century, known as the ‘Father of British Egyptology.’ His work on the history of Ancient Egypt is one of the most extensive of its kind with topics ranging from agriculture and manufacturing, religion and mythology, living sacrifices, the pantheon of Egyptian deities, hieroglyphics, and much more!

This 1854 Murray edition was published in two volumes, both of which are illustrated throughout with images of gods, warships, art and hieroglyphs, and cultural aspects such as tools and animals.

Very Good. Bound in leather with marbled boards, both volumes are tight and secure. Leather shows mild rubbing. Pages are clean and free of markings. Woodcuts remain sharp. Internal contents complete and well preserved.
