Publii Ovidii Nasonis Operum – Ovid – 1662 | Metamorphoses, Daniel Heinsius
Ovid’s full Latin poetic works printed in 1662 by Janssonius in Amsterdam, including Metamorphoses, Heroides, and exile poems, edited by Heinsius in a single full-leather volume.
Publii Ovidii Nasonis Operum is a rare 1662 edition of the complete works of Ovid, the 1st-century Greco-Roman writer. This small, compact edition was published in Amsterdam and includes all of the expected works of Ovid including Heroides, Amores, Ars Amatoria, Remedia Amoris, Fasti, Tristia, Epistulae ex Ponto and Ibis. Of course, no printing of Ovid would be complete without Metamorphoses, which is the entire second volume of this three-part tome. This epic poem recounts the history of the world from creation to the death of Julius Caesar with accounts of famous mythological figures such as Jason, Hercules, Orpheus and Eurydice, Achilles, Ulysses, and even the fall of Troy!
This edition was collected and edited by Daniel Heinsius during the Dutch Golden Age of printing.
