Image Gallery Description & Details

Dissertationes by Maximus of Tyre, printed in 1630 by Claudius Larjot in Lyon, is a collection of forty-one short philosophical texts in parallel Greek and Latin. Maximus wrote a number of dissertations and theological discourses on a variety of subjects, most of which center around God, the existence of God, and his characteristics as the one true God. The Dissertations, as they are known today, discuss humanity in relation to God’s qualities, good versus evil, existence of demons and daemons, and the origins of sin.
