1567 – Table Talk by Martin Luther | Famous Aurifaber’s Tischreden | Reformation

Tischreden, more commonly known as Table Talk, is a collection of sayings and anecdotes by Martin Luther, most of which came from Luther and friends while sitting around a table dining together. Important topics included in this work centered around theology and philosophy, Luther’s struggle with vertigo and dizziness, consequences for severe punishment of children, the pope and church corruption, daily life, humor, theology, and much more.

This 1567 edition was published in Frankfurt and was collected by Anton Lauterbach. This work is often considered to be Aurifaber’s Tischreden as it also includes edits by Luther’s secretary Johann Aurifaber.

Condition:

Good. Bound in original full vellum with decorative tooling now showing heavy wear and rubbing. Vellum darkened and structurally worn. Title page exhibits visible staining and foxing. Text block shows consistent age toning throughout, yet remains complete and legible. Binding secure though aged.
