1725 – Famous French Architecture – Le Muet | Enormous Building Plans Folio
Maniere de Bastir pour Touttes Sortes de Personnes by Pierre Le Muet, circa 1725, features engraved architectural plans, façades, and construction designs from early modern France.
Maniere de Bastir is one of the most famous 17th-century French architectural works. Pierre Le Muet served as the royal architect to King Louis XIII of France and published this work for builders and patrons seeking practical home-building models with a distinct French design. This enlarged second edition wasn’t published until much later, around 1725, but features 75 engraved pages showcasing house facades and floor plans. Each page contains an engraved border, all of which are beautifully bound in a modern leather binding. A truly remarkable work of French architecture describing windows and doors, staircases, and other construction elements.
