Genesis Commentary – Martin Luther – 1572 | Huge German Folio in Vellum
1572 Wittenberg edition of Martin Luther’s Genesis commentary, chapters 25–50, in original tooled vellum; printed by Schwenck, a rare folio from the early Reformation period.
Der Eilffte Teil der Bücher is a 1572 Wittenberg printing of Martin Luther’s complete works. This 11th volume includes Luther’s commentary on Genesis from chapters 25 through 50. Beginning in 1535, Luther began lecturing on Genesis, identifying many of the mysteries found in the first book of Moses, including the prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament. He also claims that there are hidden inclusions of The Trinity throughout Genesis. This massive tome is bound in period vellum, with fine tooling on the boards.
