Jones’ Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen (Second Series, 1829) brings together 114 estate views from the western counties of England. With steel engravings by John Preston Neale and brief historical descriptions, this volume captures a selection of country houses at the close of the Georgian era. These prints and texts were produced during a period of intense public interest in growing estates of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. This particular volume focuses on notable residences across Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, and surrounding areas. Near Fine. Absolutely beautiful. Bound in modern quarter leather over marbled boards and leather corners. Binding is tight. Mild aging and toning on some pages. Steel engravings are strong and clear.
