1537 – The Iliad by Homer | Famous Greek Mythology – Herodotus, Life of Homer
1537 Venetian edition of Homeri poetarum omnium principis Ilias by Homer Latin translation, including the traditional Life of Homer attributed to Herodotus.
An incredibly rare 16th-century edition of the famous epic poem by Greek poet Homer – The Iliad. This work presents stories of Greek mythological heroes and their military conquests in the Trojan War. Notably, it features the Latin translation and includes the famous ‘life of Homer’ that has historically been attributed to Herodotus (though modern scholars suggest it was not written by Herodotus).
This near fine 1537 edition is beautifully bound in full vellum, free of major staining, toning, or wear.
