1721 – History of University of Cambridge | First Edition | Richard Parker & Nicholas Cantalupus
First edition of Parker’s bilingual history of Cambridge, with English translations of two early Latin texts on the university’s origin and colleges. Professionally rebound in leather and cloth.
The History and Antiquities of the University of Cambridge is a rare, early 18th-century collection of two early Latin works on the origins and history of the colleges of Cambridge: Historiola Cantabrigiensis by Nicholas Cantalupus and Skeletos Cantabrigiensis by Richard Parker. The book surveys the changes of the colleges through the reigns of Kings and how they affected the university. It also notably includes a table of the diocese of Canterbury and York which includes most famous names such as Thomas Cranmer and Henry Deane.
