Histoire De L’Arianisme – Louis Maimbourg – 1682 | Rise and Fall of Arianism, 3v
Louis Maimbourg’s 1682 three-volume Histoire De L’Arianisme traces the Arian movement through late antiquity and early medieval Europe, complete with engraved title page in the first volume.
In his book History of Arianism, Louis Maimbourg describes the rise and fall of Arianism from its earliest forms in the 3rd-century and its growth throughout Germanic tribes in the 5th-7th centuries. Maimbourg, a Jesuit historian, was known for his works on iconoclastic controversies, but this survey of the Arian movement proved to be one of his most important. In it, he describes the conversion of Clovis, the state of 5th and 6th-century Burgundians, the rule of Attila the Hun, the Goth Wars, the spread of Visigoths into Spain, the reign of King Cleph, and much more.
