Fracisci Petracae De remediis – Petrarch – 1492 | Incunable, Vellum Folio
Petrarch’s De Remediis utriusque fortunae, printed in Cremona in 1492 by Misintis and Parmensis, an incunabulum in Latin on moral and philosophical themes, bound in near fine full vellum.
Fracisci Petracae De remediis utriusque fortunae by Francesco Petrarch is an exceedingly rare 1492 printing of On the Remedies. This two-part work was first written in the 4th-century and is Petrarch’s work on moral conduct, human virtues, humility, and the opposing tendencies of divine love and self-love. (Lee, Petrarch and Augustine, p. 249).
This vellum-bound folio is textually complete, wanting only the final blank leaf. It is a remarkably fine example of 15th-century printing.
