Image Gallery Description & Details

This 1882 first edition of Farm Sermons by Charles H. Spurgeon is a collection of 19 sermons that takes inspiration from and extols the spiritual relevance of the spiritual relevance of rural life and farming. The renowned Baptist preacher, often called the “Prince of Preachers,” discusses the farmer’s closeness to divine principles, noting how the rhythms of agricultural life foster a contemplative relationship with God’s will. Spurgeon’s intention was not simply to preach, but to reignite spiritual conviction and faith among those whose livelihoods depend daily on natural cycles. With poignant commentary that weaves together biblical instruction and agrarian imagery, Spurgeon hoped to revitalize the spiritual lives of the country-folk who would most relate to the subjects of these sermons.
