Evangelistarum quaternio – Jean de La Haye – 1607 | First Edition, Gospel Harmony
1607 first edition of Jean de La Haye’s harmonized Gospel commentary, printed in Douai with engraved title page and chronological arrangement of Christ’s life.
Evangelistarum quaternio, seu Evangelicae historiae dispositio by Jean de La Haye is a 1607 survey of the Gospels of the New Testament. This account is a chronological study of the life of Jesus from the perspective of each of the four Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. La Haye uses the verbatim words from the scriptures and compares them against one another. This book proved to be a valuable source of Jesuit theology in the first part of the 17th-century.
