Jakob Böhme was an early 17th-century German philosopher known for his theology which was a fusion of Lutheran traditions and mysticism.

In 1621, Böhme wrote his most important book De Signatura Rerum, his approach to the Doctrine of Signatures. He suggested that God marked various worldly things with a ‘sign’ indicating their purpose. These things included plants, animals, and much more providing clear evidences of his mysterious findings.
