The history of the buccaneers of America is an incredible history of pirates and buccaneers of the Caribbean by Exquemelin, complete with illustrations!

In 1666, Exquemelin set sail toward the Antilles when his ship was attacked by pirates headed for Tortuga. He, himself, eventually became a pirate and participated in raids and lootings.

His book of sea adventures speaks of shipwrecks, sea battles, and Spanish buccaneers in the Americas, Indies, and South Sea. Editions of this book printed after 1851 include new notices of pirates off the coast of New England!
