Image Gallery Description & Details

Copies of original letters from the army of General Bonaparte in Egypt is a rare, 1798 English printing of Napoleon’s battle secrets! Early in the Napoleon Wars, the British Navy, led by Lord Horatio Nelson, intercepted French intelligence and seized numerous letters detailing motives and direction of the French army. These letters were published as a strong piece of anti-French propaganda and served as an affront to the French campaign in Egypt.

This first edition was an important piece of Napoleonic War memorabilia and has proved to be a highly desirable work since it was first published. Note the inclusion of the folding map of Egypt! Includes both French and English translations of the letters.
