1650 – Astronomy Tables – Andrea Argoli | Famous Mathematics & Ephemerides
1667 Padua edition of Argoli’s Primi mobilis tabulae, containing astronomical tables, planetary observations, and ephemerides, with two engravings in vellum binding.
Written by 17th-century Italian mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer Andrea Argoli, Primi mobilis tabvlæ Andreae Argoli contains daily observations of planets and moons, building upon the work of Tycho Brahe. Argoli’s ephemerides—tables that give the trajectory of naturally occurring astronomical objects and artificial satellites in the sky—and study of logarithms remain his most notable contributions to the field of astronomy, though his interest in applying his findings to astrology kept him from receiving widespread acclaim.
