Image Gallery Description & Details

Chronicorum by Saint Antoninus is a monumental universal chronicle that surveys the history of the world from creation through the 15th-century. Atoninus, a Dominican friar and Archbishop of Florence, was known for his biblical and moral teaching, both of which appear throughout this work. Interestingly, this work includes the famed Epistola Rabbi Samuelis ad Rabbi Isaac, a medieval Latin apologetic text traditionally attributed to a converted rabbi.

This example features the first two volumes of the 1586 folio printing from Lyon.
