Andrea Alciati’s Opera Omnia (1582), Volume 4, contains civic legal writings, a Latin Galen translation, and a Roman law glossary, printed in Basel by Guarinus in folio format.
An impressive 16th-century edition of Andrea Alciati’s works. Best known for his famed book of Emblemata which brought him substantial recognition, Alciani also wrote numerous other works of commentary on Roman law.
Works found in this work include Paradoxa, Disputations, On magistrates and civil/military offices, Opinion on Dueling, On Single Combat, and even Alciati’s translation of Galen’s work on weights and measures.
It is worth noting that this volume contains many of the famed emblems that Alciati was known for.
