Image Gallery Description & Details

Prodromus ad Refutationem Alcoran by Ludovico Marracci was a 1698 polemical Christian work intended to expose the errors of Islam from a Catholic standpoint. Marracci worked as an Oriental scholar and Arabic professor, though, as a Catholic and member of the Order of the Clerics Regular, he was not defending the Quran but rather refuting its claimed merit. Prodromus offered not only translations of the Quran, but added commentary so that Christians could better understand it and be better equipped to defend the Christian faith and discredit Islamic teaching.
