During the Golden Age of Islam in South and West Asia, a collection of tales and stories was gathered and called “One Thousand and One Arabian Nights”. It is often known in English as the Arabian Nights including this rare, mid-19th-century edition which features 12 exquisite engravings by Edward J. Detmold. Detmold is considered one of the most prolific Victorian-era book illustrators much in part to the insect illustrations in this work.

 

This 1924 edition is incredibly rare, limited to only 100 printed copies. This particular issue is signed by the artist himself and numbered no. 54 of 100.
