This early 20^th-century illustrated book of the life of Louis XI was written by Georges Montorgueil. Montorgueil included information on military, revolutionary uprisings, and more! While the contents of this book are notable and important, the most important aspect of this work are the incredible color illustrations by the illustrator Job [Jacque Onfray de Breville]. After an early military engagement and studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, he worked for newspapers as a caricaturist, but was known for his illustrations in children’s books, most frequently by Montorgueil adding fuel to the fire of romanticizing historic figures, including Napoleon and Joachim Murat.
