Jules Verne published a number of lesser-known science fiction, adventure novels in addition to his high profile works such as ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. One such work was ‘Facing the Flag’ – one of Verne’s numerous books in which the world faced the threat of a weapon of mass destruction!

Note on dating: like many other Verne first editions, the title page included was issued in each edition, including later printings. The dating comes from the ads in the back of the book – note the ads in this volume advertise for the releases in the 1896-1897 print year, making this a true first edition of ‘Facing the Flag’!
