This famous collection of children’s tales is illustrated with 24 illustrations by George Cruikshank. Unlike many children’s books, this 1876 printing includes bibliographic notes.
In 1812, Edgar Taylor was the first translator of “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” or “Kinder– und Hausmärchen,” and he wrote to the Grimms saying that he created the translations with “the amusement of some young friends principally in view”. (Susina, Oxford Companion to Fairy Tales).
