Published in 1876, this double-folio was a collection of 40 exquisite engravings depicting scenes from the Civil War and American life in the 1860s. Interestingly, Forbes illustrates the mundane monotony the soldiers experienced with camp life, napping, and game play, while also showcasing battle formation and military exploits.
