“there are some evidences which should especially convince us that we are perpetually surrounded and influenced by superior powers and intelligences.”

White, here, often writes of freedom, be it freedom of spirits, freedom from bondage or slavery, or from oppression and bigotry – as is in the case of the first poem “American Freedom”.
