This ‘Holy Bible’ is beautifully illustrated with full-page color maps and philological and explanatory notes throughout with tables and indexes for the scriptures. And while the title page of this edition is not dated, the date comes from the preface and is generally agreed upon to be dated 1846.

- Provenance: Handwritten – M. Leslie, ‘57
- Likely G. M. Leslie (c. 1838-1864), a first sergeant in Company B of the 6th Arkansas Infantry for the Confederate States during the American Civil War. The 6th Arkansas served virtually the entire war in Confederate forces east of the Mississippi River. The unit saw combat in numerous battles, including Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Atlanta, and Bentonville. After the unit sustained heavy casualties during the Battle of Shiloh and Bragg’s Kentucky Campaign, the unit spent most of the rest of the war consolidated with the 7th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Sergeant G. M. Leslie was killed in action during the Battle of Franklin in November 1864.
