“The Cottage Bible and Family Expositor” was an 1824 study Bible, compiled by Thomas Williams, who used sections of the Polyglot Bible as the basis for this English version. This 1834 printing was edited by William Patton, a pastor and abolitionist from the late 19^th century. Patton prepared the American editions, as the one featured here, which differed from the 1824 edition as it contained altered text considered to be a violation of the sacred text. It includes selections from Bagster’s ‘Comprehensive Bible’ and has commentary and notes on each book of the Old and New Testaments.
