Ambrosius Lobwasser was a 16^th-century German translator who is best remembered for his German, metered translation of the Psalms of David. First published in 1573, Lobwasser’s ‘Psalms of David’ was taken from the Genevan or Huguenot Psalter and was the standard psalm-book used in German-speaking Protestant churches in the 16^th-century. This 18^th-century Swiss printing is over 900 pages of Psalms and hymns set with shape notes.
