Unsure? Ask an Expert!

Alongside Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel was one of the two greatest Baroque music composers. Best known for his ‘Messiah’, Handel was responsible for hundreds of pieces of music, many of which were written with liturgical texts. Handel’s 1743 masterpiece ‘Dettingen Te Deum’ was written in honor of the British victory at Dettingen in the War of Austrian Succession.

Handel, who had become proud of his English home, wrote this setting of ‘Te Deum’ for the day King George II appointed a day of celebration in honor of the victory. Like many of Handel’s works, it features chorus, full orchestra, and solos.

This rare edition was printed in 1788 by Arnold according to the “STC of Music Printed Before 1825”.
