John McVity’s “Select Psalm and Hymn Tunes” is a rare, 18^th-century Irish song book. Published in 1787 in Dublin, this book was published for the use in both public and private worship. This music book contains music tunes with lyrics, as well as a short music lesson at the start of the hymnal. While most of the tunes are unfamiliar to modern church-goers, it does include one of the most famous tunes ‘Old 100^th’ – more commonly known as ‘The Doxology’.
