Jeremy Belknap was an 18^th-century American historian from New Hampshire who is chiefly remembered for his account of New Hampshire. He also gave a notable sermon before the general court in New Hampshire in June of 1785 in which he described the prosperity of the state as well as the freedoms afforded from the American Revolution. According to Vail, this was the first regular New Hampshire election sermon.
