Christian Schottgen was an early 18^th-century German Bible historian best-known for his ‘Hebrew Hours and Talmud in the New Testament’ – a commentary on the New Testament written through the lens of the Talmud. In the mid-17^th-century, English rabbi John Lightfoot wrote a similarly titled work which became the basis for Schottgen’s most important work. First published in 1733, this work became one of the most important religious texts for Messianic Jews in Europe.
