Henri Montfaucon de Villars was a 17^th-century French novel writer known for his stories on bizarre, strange, occult, and secret sciences. Most of his books contain themes of magic and astrology, devils and pagans, and monks and religious figures. One such work was his ‘Le Geomyler’ – a story of a Turkish monk who enters an Ottoman harem in Africa where he wins the hearts of several princesses.
