Roger Gale was an early 18^th-century English antiquary known for his contributions to the English Society of Antiquaries. He studied and collected manuscripts and coins and created registers and instructions for collectors on how to maintain and identify their findings. At the end of his career, he published what proved to be one of his most important histories, the register of the Honour of Richmond. This register of the Honour of Richmond, which is now North Yorkshire in England, is Gale’s transcription of a 12^th-century manuscript containing family trees, lineages, descriptions of notable persons from the 12^th-century.
