Philip Verheyen was a 17^th-century Flemish surgeon who, at the height of his anatomy teaching, wrote ‘Corporis humani anatomiae’ – a medical treatise on human anatomy. This work, first published in 1693, was known for describing all of the known parts of the human body. However, it was set apart from other similar works from this era by its dozens of folding engravings. This 1710 edition includes 40 such illustrations each with dozens of figures on each!
