Matthew Taubman was a 17^th-century English Poet Laureate known for his literature and poems affecting the Popish Plot. One such work was his “Loyal Poems and Satyrs” which includes numerous poems and songs which were written against traitors devising events of the Plot. Published in 1685, it contains litanies and hymns, as well as poems defending those accused he felt were innocent.
