Jan Janszoon Struys was a 17^th-century Dutch explorer known for his voyages in Africa and Asia. Perhaps his most remarkable voyage was to Moscow, Persia, and the Caspian Sea in which he gained significant understanding of Russian and Middle Eastern customs and diplomacy. His discoveries and experiences were published in his book ‘Three Remarkable Journeys’ which went through numerous editions, translations, and titles including this 1684 French edition.
