Thomas Pierce was a 17^th-century Puritan preacher known for his numerous controversial writings and opinions. One of his best works was “The Sinner Impleaded in His Own Court” which was highly influenced by his observations of sinful behavior of Puritans in the English Civil War era. This book, as the title suggests, describes the torments and horrors of pursuing sin in hopes of discouraging sinful behavior.

 

In addition to ‘Sinner Impleaded’, this 1679 edition of Pierce’s works contains “The Signal Diagnostic” – a treatise on God’s love, our love for others, and loving Jesus.
