Lazare Riviere, or Riverius, was a 17^th-century French physician known for his numerous contributions to pharmacology and human anatomy. English peer Nicholas Culpeper, alongside Abdiah Cole and William Rowland, published a translation of Riverius’s ‘Praxis Medica’ under the title ‘The Practice of Physick’. This work was a series of 17 shorter essays discussing various medical fields including over ‘five hundred and thirteen observations or histories of famous and rare cures’ (per title).
