Thomas Littleton was a 15^th-century English jurist known for his treatises on tenures. This book has long been considered the first text on English property law and ownership rights. ‘The Tenures’, as it is more commonly known, was an important catalyst in the changes made to the feudal system in England and was made the subject of numerous commentaries a rebuttal into the 17^th-century. Interestingly, portions of this work are still sited as authoritative in English and American real estate law.
