1670 RARE 1ed Fulke Greville English Poetry Monarchy & Religion Politics Poems
Fulke Greville was a 16th-century poet and English noble who served as the first Baron Brooke. It was, however, his poems that give him his lasting fame. Curiously, his poems were written on historical and political topics most notably the English monarchy. “A Treatise of Monarchy” is an epic poem of 664 6-line stanzas which criticized the monarchy as it was in the early 17th-century. This 1670 first edition of Greville’s approach to the English throne was published along with his criticism of the Church of England.
