Thomas Whitfield’s “Extent of Divine Providence” is a rare, 17^th-century Puritan treatise describing the character of God. Whitfield, who was known for his involvement in the Puritan movement in the first half of the 17^th-century, wrote this short sermon-like treatise to describe God’s ability to influence sinful men and ‘lead them not into temptation’, as Whitfield quotes Jesus.
